Beloved and devoted wife, mother and grammy passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023 at her home following a lengthy illness. Age 58 years. The daughter of the late Gary and Janet (Trieb) Frost, Debra was born on June 22, 1964 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Jim B. Heitkamp, her loving husband of 37 years, on December 28, 1985. He survives her. Debra graduated from SS. Peter and Paul High School in 1982 and from MJ Murphy Beauty College in 1984. She was a hair stylist for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, the peacefulness of being by the ocean and she was an avid animal lover, especially for her feline companions. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving besides her husband Jim are two daughters, Shelby (Phil Brookins) Heitkamp, Kasey (Bobby Pierce) Heitkamp; “Super Grammy” to five grandchildren, Harper, Holden, Emma, Caleb and Clara; her sister, Rebecca Frost; many nieces and nephews.
Honoring Debra’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of her life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2023 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastor Carol McCleary will officiate. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Saginaw County Humane Society.
