Obituary for Dean A. Kinsella

Dean A. Kinsella,
Saginaw, Michigan.
The 1959 North Dakota Golden Gloves state champion hung up his gloves for the last time on March 4, 2023 enveloped by the love of his family. Dean was born September 14, 1937, one of ten children born of Alan and Margaret Kinsella, on their North Dakota farm. He served proudly in the U.S. Army and thereafter, came home to build missile silos in the Great Plains. It was while doing so that Colleen Westmiller caught his eye. They married on November 27, 1965 then escaped the North Dakota cold and headed to Miami. Eventually, they settled in Saginaw where Dean worked as an electrician and proud IBEW Local #557 member until his retirement in 1996. Dean was a member of St. John Paul II Parish – St. Josaphat Catholic Church, an usher, and proud member of Knights of Columbus Council #4232 and American Legion Post #439. Dean will always be remembered as a tough, yet quietly generous man with a sharp and observant sense of humor. His lack of fear and incredible sense of adventure often left his travel companions (usually Collleen) more than a little nervous. However, it always made for a good story.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Colleen; his son, Mike; his daughter, Kathryn (Jamie); grandchildren, Cheyanne (Brian), Shane, Andrew (Christen) and Dean; and great-grandson, Cash; two brothers, Jerry and Leo (Pam); three sisters, Pat, Pauline and Rita; many nieces and nephews. Dean was preceded in death by four sisters, Joan, Deloris, Margaret and Regina.
A Private Funeral Service will take place at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate. Honoring Mr. Kinsella’s wishes cremation will follow. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Legion Post #439.
