Obituary for Daniel J. Vetterle

Daniel J. Vetterle,
Saginaw, Michigan.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle passed away on Friday, April1, 2022 at Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan at the age of 72 years. Son of the late John and Viola (Burmeister) Vetterle, Daniel was born on July 26, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received numerous Air Medals and the Purple Heart. He married Mary Ellen Fritz, his loving wife of 52 years on December 20, 1969. She survives him. Daniel had been employed at Grey Iron Foundry for 35 years, retiring in 2006, and was a member of U.A.W. Local 668. He was a past member of First Christian Church West Disciples of Christ and attended Catholic Church services with his wife. Daniel enjoyed boating, golfing, bowling, yardwork, spending time at the family cabin up north and especially spending time with his granddaughters.

Surviving besides his wife Mary are one son Daniel and Jennifer Vetterle II, Saginaw; two granddaughters, Kiley and Morgan Vetterle, Saginaw; one brother John H. and Betty Vetterle II, Saginaw; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Michael Miller, Augusta Ahejew, Christine DeCaire, Esther Lane, Carol and Robb Racine, Mathias and Diane Brown, Alisa (Leonna) and Alan Yearwood; many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon Miller and Sheila and Robert Ott; two nephews, Craig Miller, Bobby Ott and a niece, Tracy Ott.

Honoring Mr. Vetterle’s wishes cremation has taken place. Memorial Service will take place 2:00 Friday, April 8, 2022 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate with Military Services conducted by the U.S. Army and American Legion Post #439. Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Friday from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Wounded Warriors.
