Beloved brother and uncle passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center. Age 64 years. Son of the late Brian and Frieda (Nagy) McCarthy, Daniel was born April 29, 1958 in South Bend, Indiana. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Leahy. Daniel was employed at Nexteer. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Daniel was famous at telling jokes and singing karaoke.
Surviving to cherish his memory are one sister and seven brothers, Maureen McCarthy, Saginaw; Rev. Fr. Paul McCarthy, Saginaw; Patrick McCarthy, Saginaw; Kevin and Jackie McCarthy, Bay City, Philip and Melissa McCarthy, Saginaw; Thomas and Bethellen McCarthy, Saginaw; Ted and Kimberly McCarthy, Fenton; Tim McCarthy, SanDiego, California; many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the Staff at the Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center and especially the Staff at The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans where he was a resident for six years.
Funeral Liturgy will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw. His brother, Rev. Fr. Paul McCarthy will officiate. Honoring Daniel’s wishes cremation will follow with burial of cremains in St. Andrew Cemetery .Friends may visit at the church where the family will be present on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass.
