Chester G. “Chet” Fobear
Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away Saturday June 4, 2022 at Ascension St. Mary’s Medical Center. Age 82 years. Son of the late Chester and Maryjane (Crawford) Fobear, Chester was born September 19, 1939 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Carol T. Reid, his loving wife of 49 years, on August 4, 1973. She survives him. Chet worked in data processing at Morley Brothers and Saginaw Community Hospital (HealthSource Saginaw). Chet used his experiences with Parkinsons to help others by volunteering with CMU neurological students, helping to share his experiences. Chet was an avid fisherman who spent hours enjoying fishing on Wixom Lake.
Chet’s family meant everything to him, and there was nothing that he loved more than spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife Carol are two daughters, Ann-Marie and Joe James, Sherry Fobear; a son-in-law, Wayne Lipinski; six loving grandchildren who he adored, Danielle James, Jackie James, Carly Lipinski, Kelsey Lipinski, Eric McCown and Kenny McCown; one great-grandson, Kari McCown; two brothers and one sister, Joseph and Karen Fobear, David and Ruthann Fobear, Patti and Harry Nagel; a brother-in-law, Tim Reid; many nieces and nephews. Chet was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Lipinski.


Funeral Service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2022 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate. Honoring Mr. Fobears wishes cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
