Obituary for Carol Dorothy (Hoerauf) Wozniak

Wozniak, Carol Dorothy (Hoerauf)
Bay City, Michigan

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Carol Dorothy (Hoerauf) Wozniak, went Home to be with the Lord in the afternoon hours of Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Brian’s House in Hampton Township, Michigan. Age 80 years. Carol was born on December 3, 1942 in Bay City, Michigan to the late Herman C. and Johanna P. (Reichard) Hoerauf. Carol was known to bring joy to everyone that knew her. Always putting others before herself, and teaching them to love unconditionally. She was a 1960 graduate of T.L. Handy High School. On May 18, 1963 inside of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Carol married the love of her life, Franklin C. “Frank” Wozniak, and he survives her. For nearly 20 years, Carol worked for the Bay City Bank; in data processing as a clerk. Following retirement Carol had numerous roles, but nothing brought her more joy than caring for her home and family. Carol was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church; being active as a ladies aid member and with the choir. She was also a member of the Frankenlust Township Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. Over the years it brought her great satisfaction to volunteer at the Economy Center. On a beautiful day, Carol could always be found on her front porch swing. She enjoyed playing cards and watching Detroit Tigers Baseball. With her many joys in life, nothing brought Carol more happiness than the time she was able to spend with her family and friends; especially attending her grandchildren’s activities and events. Carol will be missed dearly by all, and her memories will be cherished forever.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 60 years, Franklin C. “Frank” Wozniak; four children, Kurt (Sheryl) Wozniak, Kimberly (Troy) Martlock, Craig (Amy) Wozniak, and Kristi (Craig) Swayze; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald (Janet) Hoerauf and Thomas (Nancy) Hoerauf; sister, Bonnie List; two sisters-in-law, Frances (Jerome) Szostak and Cynthia (Richard) Dolson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Carol is happily reunited with her parents, Herman C. and Johanna P. (Reichard) Hoerauf, brother, Charles Hoerauf; brother-in-law, William List; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stanley and Clara Wozniak; brother-in-law, Florian “Butchie” Wozniak.

Carol’s family would like to extend a very special Thank You to the Staff of New Hope Bay, Brian’s House, and McLaren Hospice for the extraordinary care and compassion provided to Carol and their family.
