Bonnielou S. Essex

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away Friday, April 9, 2021at Covenant HealthCare Cooper. Age 80 years. The daughter of the late John and Hazel (Bishop) Bolf, Bonnielou was born January 21, 1941 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Gerald Essex on July 9, 1956. He predeceased her June 30, 1996. Bonnielou enjoyed camping, going to the casino, playing bingo and yard sales. She was a devoted follower of the Elvis tribute artist, Leo Elvis Days, and attended many of his concerts throughout the country. Bonnielou enjoyed life and spending time with family. Everyone who met her loved her. Bonnielou was selfless, always giving and caring, trying to help or make things work for others, often putting herself last. She was an angel who walked among us! Bonnielou’s legacy will carry on in her children, grandchildren, many loved and cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She will be remembered for her generous and caring heart.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Gerald and JoAnn Essex, Becky Essex, Michael and Rona Essex and Kelley Lambert; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Ross, Austin (Bethany) La Porte, Joshua Essex, Misty Mazurowski, Kera (Wayne) McMann, Alicia (Jerry) Reardon, Melissa (Benjamin) Werth, Michelle Essex and Michael Kay Essex; many great- grandchildren; two sisters, Tammy Bolf and Renee Bolf; many nieces and nephews including a special nephew, Brian (Amber) Bolf; also surviving are many dear friends and other relatives. Bonnielou was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother, Arlene Neumann, Marie Decker and John Bolf.

Honoring Bonnielou’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Blumfield Township Hall in Reese, Michigan from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
