Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Wellspring Assisted Living, age 87 years. The daughter of the late Earl and Barbara (Boes) Purdue, Janet was born on February 26, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Immaculata High School in 1953. Shortly after graduation, she married John F. Breen and they were blessed with six children. In 1983, Janet married the love of her life, Donald Gallant. He predeceased her in 2012 after 29 years of marriage. Janet loved her family, loved to cook and be outdoors especially on the golf course. She and Don wintered in Tucson, Arizona for 17 years. She was a longtime member of St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church where she was a Eucharistic Minister. Janet also volunteered countless hours at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving are six children, Kathleen (Craig) Gibson, Perry; John “Beaver” (Susan) Breen, Jr., Saginaw; Margaret (Roger) Jackson, Port Orange, Florida; Barbara (Bobby) Champagne, Bryant, Arkansas; Colleen (Walter) Goggin, Franklin, Tennessee; Julie (Phil) Beezhold, Grand Rapids. Upon marrying Don, she was also blessed with five daughters, Cheryl Klonoski, Susan Meyers, Paula (Jack) Opperman, Cindy (Michael) Sebek, Lisa (David) Rapin. Also surviving are many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephew. Janet was preceded in death by her childhood best friend and sister, Shirley Kuhn.

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 9, 2022 at St. Dominic Parish – St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2711 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate. Honoring Janet’s wishes cremation will follow and private inurnment will take place in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Dominic Parish or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
