Obituary for Ann Louise (Pussehl) Howard

Ann Louise (Pussehl) Howard
Saginaw, Michigan
Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the age of 101 years. The daughter of the late Peter and Louise (Bannan) Young, Ann was born February 10, 1921 in Taymouth Township, Michigan and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Saginaw. She was married to Bob Pussehl on November 17, 1945. He predeceased her October 2, 1963. Ann then married Fielding Howard on June 29, 1968. He predeceased her June 14, 1982. Mom grew up on a number of different farms around Saginaw with her parents and five siblings. This is where she learned her strong work ethic. After she graduated high school her first job was at Kresge’s in downtown Saginaw. Mom worked at Eaton Manufacturing during World War II and was very proud of being a “Rosie the Riveter”. After the war she went to work at Roy’s Steakhouse and was there for nearly 50 years. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church for over 60 years. In addition, she was a member of the Washington Society and American Legion Post # 22 Ladies Auxiliary. Mom loved to garden, bowl, play cards, dance and was well known for her peanut brittle. More than anything else Mom loved people and most especially her family. She was especially close with her siblings and their spouses and they spent many fun times together. Mom loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When they were little she would give them baths in the kitchen sink and loved to rock them to sleep. As they got older, she taught them to bake, take care of a garden and play games. Whenever she could, she would be at their activities to cheer them on.

Surviving to cherish her memory are three daughters, Susan (Don) Reifert, Barb Lantz and Kathy (Louis) Cronk; seven grandchildren, Eric (Sarah) Hopkins, Allison (Armando) Inurreta, Bridget (Brent) Bishop, Jason (Alison) Lantz, Heidi (David) Churchfield, Robert (Amanda) Cronk and Ashley (Jon) Graham; 13 great-grandchildren, Aria Inurreta, Becca and Nic Bishop, Arwen and Adeline Lantz, Tyler and Paige Churchfield, Kennedy and Avery Cronk, Landen Cronk, Sophia, Jaxson and Kayla Graham; one brother, Dick (Maryann) Young; brother-in-law, Steve Pollick; sister-in-law, Alberta Young; stepson, Ron Howard and his family; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Charlotte Turner, Jean Mielke and Jan Ray. Ann was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Bob Young; four sisters, Rosemary Starland, Jean Pollick, Mary Dean Young and an infant sister; brother-in-law, Frank Starland; sister-in-law, Bonnie Young; and long-time companion, Don Boyce.
