Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Close to Home Assisted Living in Bay City. Age 91 years. The daughter of the late Floyd Falkenhagen and Helen (Schaumann) Schwartz, Alice was born on July 20, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard Pollick, on May 17, 1952. He predeceased her on April 26, 2018. Alice graduated from Holy Family High School in 1949. While Alice was growing up, she helped run the family grocery store, Gustat’s Meat Market, in Saginaw. She then went on and graduated from Bay City Junior College and Bay County Normal School in 1951. After earning her teaching certificate from Central Michigan University, Alice taught at Ricker School for two years. She also taught catechism at St. Boniface Parish in Bay City. Alice did alterations for Roth Cleaners in Bay City and also worked at the Covered Bridge and Leather Shop in Frankenmuth. Her baked goods were loved by many and her Christmas cookie trays were treasured by all. She cooked from scratch with every meal she made. Alice was a former member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.


Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Richard J. (Yvonne) Pollick, Pinconning; Suzanne M. (John Johnson) Pollick, Akron; David (Kathleen Hamblin-Tompkins) Pollick, Otisville; her daughter-in-law, Shirley Pollick, Saginaw; her grandchildren, Lindsay Yax, Thomas Pollick II, Erin Lee (Ian) Bissonnette, Amy (Paul) Kramer, Lacee (Daniel) Smith; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Steven Pollick and Michael (Terry) Pollick; many dearly loved nieces and nephews; special friend, Michelle Bowers. Alice will be dearly missed by her revolving 500 Rummy Card Club Ladies, who have been playing together monthly since 1951. Alice was preceded in death by her son, Thomas A. Pollick; her daughter, Alice M. Chambers, her daughter-in-law, Sharon Pollick, her sister, Sally Pollick and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joseph Pollick, Jean Pollick, Marge Pollick and Robert Pollick; and special cousin, Dorothy Rankin.


The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Close to Home Assisted Living and to ProMedica Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.


Honoring Mrs. Pollick’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Memorial Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Friends may visit at the funeral home where the family will be present on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
